BigMat International, Official Partner of the 2025 Cyclo-Cross World Championships (Liévin, FR)

From 31 January to 2 February 2025, Liévin hosted a top-level international event: the cyclo-cross world championships. The 2025 event took place on the legendary Val de Souchez circuit, where more than 30 nationalities competed.
For three days, the cyclo-cross creme de la creme gathered in Liévin, including a strong Dutch delegation led by stars Mathieu van der Poel and Fem van Empel.
Mathieu Van der Poel made history by scooping a seventh world title
Van der Poel got off to a flying start and found himself alone in the lead after just two minutes of racing. He went on to dominate the race and comfortably claimed his seventh world title, matching Erik De Vlaeminck’s record.
Behind him, Wout Van Aert, who got off to a poor start and crashed early on, never gave up. After a fine comeback, he managed to catch up with the chasing group and ended up taking second place, behind his untouchable Dutch rival.
The long-awaited duel between the two champions failed to materialise, due to Van der Poel’s lightning start and the difficulties encountered by Van Aert. Yet despite everything, Van der Poel proved his determination by delivering an outstanding performance.
